I stayed with Olivia and her son, Merlin, for about 4 month, it was my first time working abroad. I stayed in a little chalet next to her house, that has everything you need. I had breakfast and dinner with Olivia and Merlin everyday, and the quality of the food is very good, a lot of the food is home produce. I was here to mind her son, Merlin, who is 17 month old, while she was working. Merlin is a lovely little boy, who loves to explore different things outside, and have a run around in the stable. Olivia is very easygoing and lovely, she provided me with most of the things that I needed, and drove me to different sites that I wanted to see. She let me ride her horses and gave me free riding lessons. The landscaping is beautiful, there is lots of different things to see, and the ocean is only about 10-15 min away by car. Her place is quite big but still peaceful, its a good place to get study done. She lives in the countryside, but the city isn’t to far away, and she always drove me to the city if I wanted to go. I can’t wait to come back and see them again. I’d definitely recommend staying here !

Thank you so much Edwina for an amazing stay. Unfortunately didn't get to meet Doug over my three weeks or so that I stayed but I got to know Edwina, Saskia and Anouska really well. I mostly helped with childcare however I also did some gardening and household tasks. It was a lovely base to explore Dunedin from and Edwina kindly let me borrow their second car as I did not have one. Would really recommend this workaway. Thanks so much :)

Bob (Zheng) helped us on farm in central South Island of New Zealand for two months. During that time we did lots of fenciing, gardening, lawns, cutting and stacking firewood and putting netting on plant protectors. He drove the Quad Bike and van Truck. Bob was always wiling to help with whatever job, when ever required fit in well with everyone. I highly recommend him for any job you have available. I stayed with Bootz for a week in late Feburary/early January 2023, it was my first workaway experience, and it was a trip I will never forget! Bootz is one of the most interesting and compassionate people I have ever met. I had such a lovely time getting to know him and his cats, hearing stories about Loulou, and familiarizing myself with the beautiful mountains and towns of Andalucia. Bootz is a very open person, a great communicator, and the work I helped him with was very manageable. As a solo woman traveler, I always felt welcomed, safe, and supported by him during my stay. Last thing, bring a headlamp and enjoy!

I had a really enjoyable time in Delhi through this workaway. The host, Dee, is simply the best. She is compassionate beyond measure, extremely hard-working, dedicated, thoroughly communicative, and incredibly knowledgeable about Indian culture and the world. I always find that traveling for me is more about the people I meet than the places I go and that describes my experience with Dee to a T. The apartment is clean and spacious enough for a couple of people. There is a rooftop terrace with a beautiful garden that you should look after and the work itself is not too arduous. As Dee had told me, the winter months are more focused on individual tasks as she is very busy during this time, which was fine for me as I tend to enjoy solitude. I mainly ironed clothes and cleaned a few of the rooms in the apartment with some other tasks here and there. Even though Dee was very busy most of the two weeks that I was there, she always made an effort to come see me at least once a day. It was super thoughtful of her and I appreciated it a lot. The food that was provided was incredibly tasty but there are also plenty of places in the area for you to try some local Indian food if you so desire. I wished I could have helped more and been more involved in the NGO but Dee explained the reasons behind not working directly with the community very well and I completely understood. If you are looking for an experience supporting a community in need behind the scenes, getting a local experience, eating tasty food, and don't mind working alone, this is the place for you! Dee truly made the experience complete but it also felt good to have a small role in helping others for a bit. Also! If you are traveling directly from your home, consider bringing some clothes to donate as there is never enough to give to the community. Make sure they are presentable and not raggedy though. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

Great workaway! We'd been there for three weeks and we had an amazing time! The work is simple and easy. You just need to teach english to kids for 4 hours per day, monday to thursday. We decided that we wanted to teach together english but is also posible to separate and do in alone. As the host will tell you many times, most of the decisions are up to you! The level of the kids about english is very low, try to understand how dificult is to use another alphabeth and try read in english for them. They try their best and they give you a lot of love and hughs. The host is amazing! She is living in the same street and always is taking care of you. Early in the morning, you will receive food collected from the monks and they will give you a big portion! You will breakfast and lunch from that food (I consider that I eat a lot but I was never able to finish it). In the evening, you will have some food from the host, local food always! Or you can also go to dinner with the teachers! The accomodation is in the school. The of the school is big and it is also a temple in the backyard! You sleep in a room with AC and WiFi. You also have a kitchen and bathroom that will be used only by you.. The village is very small and you will walk it very fast. During the weekend it gets very calm. If you want to go somewhere during the weekend, the host will bring you by car to the nearest bus/train station and will pick you up in the way back. We loved this Volunteering and we are looking forward to come back if its possible.

I would highly recommend any single traveller as well as couples to go for a workaway stay at Michael's beautiful and peaceful home in the most gorgeous surroundings. I stayed with Michael and Christine for two weeks and it was such a pleasure. Michael has been a great host all the way from good communication upon arrival (and during the full stay) to finding suitable gardening and housework tasks together. Most importantly, there’s always a great atmosphere with time for nice conversations and to enjoy a cup of morning coffee :) As a bonus you will have a really nice accommodation and you can easily enjoy privacy if you prefer. Make sure to have a car to fully enjoy the surroundings of waterfalls, hikes, and of course the great beaches in Byron and Brunswick Heads - you will have heaps of time to explore and enjoy the good life in weekdays and full weekends. Thank you for making me feel welcome and opening your lovely home, Michael. I’ve enjoyed this stay !

The project on Al's farm is fantastic, you will be able to see many different techniques and how they are integrated in the farm. It is really a great experience to have. Al and all the staff are super nice and will help you with anything you ask. As a recommendation, I highly encourage future workawayers to rent a motorbike to be able to move in and out of the farm with ease so you can enjoy the beautyful opportunities Coron offers. Finally, you can access what the farm offers at the time, but deppending on the moment they will have more or less to offer and you will need to provide for yourself for the rest (although we started working on a permaculture area when I left so make sure to ask!).

I have really enjoyed my 12 days helping at Mai Dusun Retreat. It was very cool to experience living in the jungle - so much wildlife to see and hear! I especially loved the daily sightings of the family of monkeys that came to the campsite. MD let’s us come up with our own projects so I decided my main project would be making furniture for the bedrooms as they had none. I made 2 clothes rails, a bedside table and a hanging decoration. It was really cool to get to work with bamboo and I enjoyed the opportunity to be creative. I also helped with sweeping leaves, cleaning outdoor toilets and the house and washing the tents and tarpaulins which had gotten very muddy in a recent flash flood. It was hard working in the heat (34 degrees some days!) but overall a really rewarding experience. The only downside to my stay was that if you couldn’t ride a motorbike, you couldn’t go far to visit the area on your day off. I ended up working every day because I was enjoying my projects so it wasn’t a problem. MD is a great guy, very kind and always has a smile on his face. He came to see us at least once everyday (and sometimes Riza his wife too). MD sometimes helped with the work and sometimes he came just to enjoy the campfire and hang out with us. MD often bought a breakfast or a snack with him to enable us to taste the local Malay cuisine (the roti canai was my favourite!) which we all appreciated. MD is very good at responding to messages if you ask for groceries which can’t be bought in the village or more work supplies (screws, sandpaper, tools). MD makes sure that every workawayer has their own space - either a bedroom or tent to themselves depending on what’s available. MD made an effort to tell us lots about Kedah and the local area. One afternoon he took us on a trip to visit his friend’s island on lake Pedu where we got to see the bamboo cabins they had built, try jackfruit and even got to go kayaking which was amazing! MD also taught us lots about the abundance of tropical fruits that grow in Malaysia and gave us a taste testing which was also fun. Thank you MD and Riza for your hospitality and for this really cool experience! Good luck with all your future campsite projects 😊

Ania and Greg welcomed me with open arms to their home and life. Though I only stayed a short 6 days, it was a truly wonderful experience. We had many long talks about our cultures and our lives all while doing various projects like making flowering quince jam and juice. They were very accommodating when I needed to leave early and kind when I became unwell. I would recommend to anyone wanting to step out of city life for a bit and experience a wonderful family and community 🥰

I had the pleasure to spend four weeks in November and December at this farm and I had a great time! During my time we were three helpers so the work was always fun. Part of our job was feeding all the animals (donkeys, goats, chicken, sheeps and calves) in the morning and evening. We always had to get up quite early but the beautiful sunrises we saw every morning definitely made getting up early worth it! I also saw the northern lights a couple of times which was always a very special moment for me... We also helped in the house by creating the meals and cleaning the house. We had the opportunity to work at the local stockyard two times a week which was a very new and exciting experience for me! On our time off we baked a lot and the girls also showed me how to horsebackride which I am very thankful for! So, if you enjoy being around lots of animals and want to experience the canadian farmlife, this is the place to go!

I was looking for a last minute place when I found Pimmy and Roberto and I couldn't have had a better place to be. We had two weeks of great times, lots of cultural exchange, especially at dinner time. The boys are very calm and kind, which makes the atmosphere even lighter! I hope I have contributed in some way to the routine at home! Thank you for making me feel so welcomed in a wonderful place! I miss you and little Luís! I wish the best to this lovely family and I hope to see each other again and exchange more experiences of our cuisines: Brazilian, Thai and Spanish!

During my short stay with Lyn and Don, I developed a true appreciation for the dedication and hard work required to care for dozens of rescue animals. There was something magical about caring for and cleaning up after wombats, birds, donkeys and more. The animal shelter is required to return all animals to the wild which means the time spent with them is that much more special. The experience gave me insights into wild animals and animal care that I have not gained anywhere else in my travels. Don and Lyn model what it means to truly care for these animals. They are both incredibly knowledgable and shared that knowledge any time I showed interest. The pace was casual and there were plenty of different kinds of jobs to choose from. I felt like my contribution was small compared to the amount of work to be done and at the same time felt the work I did was appreciated. Lyn and Don made it easy to feel like I was useful to the bigger effort. If I ever have the chance to go back, I hope it will be for a longer stay.

We had a great experience with Sarah. Sarah worked hard, took lots of initiative, cooked great meals and played so many hours with our youngest . Sarah’s positive outlook on life and love for life and adventure has been great to have around. And we have experienced it as inspirational to see ‘the younger’ generation dealing with the world the way Sarah does. She is easy to talk to, respectful and we will always remember the jokes at dinner time 😂.
