Description
We engage in various activities such as publication, cultural and historic tours, treasure hunts, and in-depth travel experiences in Keelung. These are part of our sustainable program aimed at helping our city develop its unique identity and raise awareness. Our goal is to attract more people to come and experience authentic Taiwanese culture, which is just a 30-minute journey from central Taipei.
Furthermore, we are actively involved in recording the oral history of our city to preserve its rich cultural heritage. We collaborate with several local community development associations, curate and execute historic and art exhibitions, as well as organize public events to promote cultural and artistic endeavors.

Options for Workawayers with Different Backgrounds:
1.Article writing, editing, photography, or video shooting to explore unique stories in Keelung City. These will be posted on the blog section of our website, or social media accounts. Please share your portfolio if you have one.
2.IT/SEO/design-related tasks, helping optimize website visibility and refine its overall look and feel.
3.Joining our sustainable project aimed at revitalizing the local community through art participation and engaging with elders. You can create artworks or workshops based on local exhibition themes.
4.We highly welcome any new ideas that can help our organization and project sustainably grow.
Weekly Routine:
1.Assisting in the execution of tours, helping prepare headset devices, 0-3 times per week. Our tour is highly rated online, and we believe it's an extra benefit to stay with us.
2.Assisting with the reception of visiting helpers/workawayers per week and general maintenance of the house on 2F & 3F.
The rest of the time is yours, and you're welcome to do whatever you like.
Please kindly tell us about yourself, including your skills, interests, portfolio, and any equipped devices like laptops, etc., as well as what motivates you to apply.
*If your application date is more than 3 months away, please provide evidence such as airplane tickets or a visa to demonstrate your definite plan to visit Taiwan. We don't reserve rooms for those who don't have a confirmed plan.
*We can not accept applicants with less than two weeks of availability unless the applicant possesses extensive or outstanding work experience that demonstrates their competence. Please provide a website or portfolio for reference.
Workawayers who can work and live independently, are self-disciplined, can achieve goals timely as discussed/promised, and enjoy immersing themselves in the local culture are highly encouraged to apply. The working space is located in the 2F living room.
Having a Line (Instant Communication APP) account and being registered on Trello are compulsory for participating our program and day-to-day communication.

Accommodation
This is an old apartment located near the traditional market, Keelung Port, and the river. Downstairs, you can find buses that can take you to Taipei City Hall MRT station in just 35 minutes. The neighborhood boasts many grocery stores where you can easily get fresh fruits and vegetables within 30 seconds. You'll also find a bakery, hair salon, restaurants, a local famous snack shop, three breakfast stores, one supermarket, as well as KFC, McDonald's, and Pizza Hut – everything you need within a 1-5 minute walk.
We offer private rooms for each helper and couples, but please note that daily meals are not included (15 hours help/week only).
The apartment is situated on the 2nd floor and features a kitchen, two suites, and two bedrooms. It comes equipped with facilities such as a refrigerator, microwave, air conditioning, washing machine (located on the 3rd floor), and dryer, among others.
The proximity to the bus stop makes it incredibly convenient to access Keelung train station and downtown quickly. Our apartment is well-connected with public transportation to Taipei and Keelung downtown (train station). The bus ride to Taipei takes approximately 40 minutes from Keelung to City Hall MRT station. You can even walk to Miaokou Night Market in just 15 minutes, eliminating the need for a motorcycle or car to get around.
What else ...
Keelung City is not like Taipei, which is a bustling metropolis with a significant foreign population. Located just 40 minutes away from Taipei, Keelung offers a unique charm with its famous tourist spots. To the east of Keelung, you can explore the mountain village of Jiufen. To the west, you'll find the renowned Yehliu rock coast, and to the southeast, there's Pinghsi. We are confident that you will discover plenty of enjoyment within the city and its surrounding areas.
