    Description

HELLO!! My partner and are building several structures by hand in our two properties in central New Mexico. We have 4 dogs, and we love being out on the land! We provide a conversion van or minivan camper as a bedroom. The composting / aka bucket toilet is shared and in vintage trailer. The shower is in our trailer. I am very flexible with exchange hours. We need help with animal care, assisting in building, clearing land and gardening. If i need you to dog sit overnight, I would only have you help 3 days, and have no other tasks.

We are completely off grid! We haul water, use solar for anything electric (phones, computers, tablets, lights) and propane for heat in the winter months ( mostly just overnight).

A workawayer here would need to be fully comfortable in an off grid set up. We are a really nice, welcoming, friendly family. Please drop a line if interested in staying with us!

Our workaway camp property where workawayer will stay when not helping in the second property, is an hour south of abq. The Earthship property is an hour south of that. We have been off grid for almost two years and happy to share knowledge. A car is necessary to get to us, there is no public transport.

We live in rural central New Mexico building a Homestay with various structures (shed, fire pit, water catchment, etc) We would love to host a workawayer who loves to garden, play with animals and assist in building, landscaping etc. We are flexible with times but request 15-20 hours a week. We can provide simple meals if rice, beans, veggies, and water. We may also require overnight dog sitting.

    Accommodation

We have a conversion van and minivan both converted for vanlife travels and very comfortable. Each workawayer will have their own van/ bedroom. Composting / aka bucket toilet with peat moss is in an adjoining trailer. The shower required warming hot water on a campfire :)! The shower enclosure is in our house. We are very conscientious of water use and shower maybe 2x a week. We would prefer a workawayer who’s understanding of water conservation and is comfortable with NOT needing a shower every day. We are off grid, no septic and no electric. We run purely off solar energy! It’s a little extra work but very fulfilling!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Workawayer who come to stay with us must be nature lovers and animal lovers. Off grid living is rewarding but takes work. We enjoy beautiful desert sunrises and sunsets and skies full of stars.

There is no public transportation to our place so a car is necessary to get around. We can accept workawayers who are content to stay on the land with no transport as well, just please be aware there is NO public transport near us.

I am a big communicator and would hope to host workawayers who are also good communicators!
