Description
**BILINGUAL RECEPTION VOLUNTEERS/YOGA TEACHERS needed ASAP at least 6 weeks**
A mountain lodge that can sleep up to 35 guests, plus has walk in traffic of travelers and locals for the restaurant, daily yoga class, and wellness services.
We are located 15 minutes up the mountain by car from Antigua Guatemala in a small village called El Hato. We are known for our amazing farm-to-table menu (with many gluten free and vegan options) and we boast one of the best volcano views in Guatemala. People come here to enjoy nature, do yoga, partake in one of our wellness services (sauna, ice bath, massage, red light therapy, etc.), relax in a hammock, eat amazing food, and escape from the city. We also frequently host special events and retreat groups.
Many of our guests are Guatemalan, so speaking Spanish is an important skill to have.

Helpers can practice their Spanish everyday plus learn from other travelers and local staff about where to go and travel. We employ 15 local workers in the kitchen and hotel grounds, so volunteers can chat with them during their stay. We also help support the local school with supplies, and financial assistance for infrastructure projects.

REQUIREMENTS:
-Reception helpers should have a social and flexible personality, be at least 21 years old, have good communication skills in English and Spanish (NOT NEGOTIABLE)!

-Helpers must also have in-person customer service experience, and be able to take initiative.
-We ask for a MINIMUM time commitment of 8 WEEKS, as it takes at least a few weeks to learn the duties of the reception position.
-Couples are more than welcome, as long as they can work independently from each other.
ACCOMODATIONS & PERKS:
Volunteers get a free private cabin, free food, strong STARLINK internet, and cheap drinks plus a share of tips each month. Volunteers also get to use the yoga studio and workout equipment for free, take yoga classes for free, and get unlimited free red light infrared treatments! Earth Lodge volunteers are also able to stay for free at our "sister hotels" at Lake Atitlan and El Paredon.
DUTIES:
Duties include checking guests in and out of the hotel, answering emails and phone calls, and generally socializing and being available to guests during your exchange hours. Helpers should be comfortable working in a team environment, as there are always at least 5 or 6 other volunteers here. Helpers MUST be able to multitask as there are oftentimes a few things going on at once.
YOGA TEACHING:
We are also looking for this volunteer to be a qualified yoga teacher who could help lead our daily morning yoga classes. Vinyasa style classes are generally preferred for our morning classes. This is an extra source of income for the teacher and is scheduled outside of the reception hours required. PLEASE NOTE- that we do NOT need a volunteer who only teaches yoga, but a reception volunteer who can also lead classes*
YOU'LL FIT INTO THE EARTH LODGE "FAMILY" IF...
We are looking for helpers that are here to enjoy the lodge, the great outdoors and what we have to offer (hiking, sauna, ice bath, workout studio, yoga, bon fires, games, other guests & staff, etc) as opposed to sitting and staring at their device during their off hours. We have wifi, but also have an amazing view, and we think that's more exciting!!
A WhatsApp interview will be arranged with potential volunteers to go over details and answer questions.

If helpers have other skills such as being yoga teachers, carpenters, masseuses, or anything along those lines, there are opportunities.
There is great hiking around, wonderful views, hammocks to relax in, and we are very close to Antigua.
Helpers can take the bus to Antigua (about 15 minute drive away) on market days, or join an existing guest shuttle to get back and forth to Antigua.
